Jolly Holly Christmas Card

Happy Friday, everyone!  It’s less than 2 weeks until Christmas!!! Are you ready?  I’m slowly getting there.  There are still lots of cards and Christmas presents to make…I might not get it all done in time, but oh well.  Enough talk!  Here’s the latest card I have for you:

I used my Sizzix Circles #2 die to cut the windows in the holly paper and my Silhouette machine for the “25.”  Gold glitter glue and green tinsel embossing powder added just the right touch of bling.  I couldn’t resist adding a bit wooden button to the velvet bow!

I repeated the theme inside with kraft circles for space to write a note.  I also made a poinsettia – usually I don’t put much dimension on the inside, but since I know this card will be hand-delivered, it’s no big deal.

A Happy Thanksgiving Card with Crafty Secrets

Happy Monday, everybody!  Can you believe Thanksgiving is only 10 days away?  I’m so looking forward to heading home for a few days to spend time with family and eat lots of delicious food!  In the meantime, I’m getting into the spirit of things by making cards like the one I’m sharing with you today.  Take a look:

What do you think?  Isn’t that the cutest little chef you’ve ever seen?  I found him in the Homemade Images & Journal Notes booklet, and paired him with stamps and paper from the Crafty Secrets Thanksgiving collection.  I made the black satin rosette and layered it over some cream ribbon and feathers from my stash, then popped the sentiment up on foam squares.  See those neat flourishes on the corners of the picture?  Those are actually digital stamps from the collection that I cut out using the “trace” function of my Silhouette Portrait.  I also used my Silhouette to cut out the sentiment.  Digital stamps + Silhouette = Fun Cardmaking Times!

Merry Christmas 2013

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!  I’m so glad you took the time to stop by today!  The card I have to share with you today is the last of my Christmas collection, and it’s my very favorite.  Something to do with the layers and the bow…I’ll let you see for yourself:

 

I almost couldn’t give this one away!  I spent a good long time adjusting each flower, piece of holly, and fruit until I had them in just the right spot, and then rearranging each layer of paper until it was perfect.  The bow turned out more beautiful that any other bow I’ve made before, and the wooden button in the middle makes me squeal a little with happiness.  Finally, the small touches of Glossy Accents and glitter glue here and there added just the right amount of shine and sparkle.  It’s just so warm and inviting, two of my favorite feelings this time of year.

I kept the inside very simple, with lots of room to spread Christmas cheer:

A Vintage Christmas

Hello again and HAPPY CHRISTMAS WEEK!!!  Are you ready?  Are you excited?  I know I am!  So, please forgive me if I’m a little spastic!  We’re nearing the end of my Christmas Card Extravaganza, but I still have a few cards to share with you.  Today you get to see 2, and I’ll have another one for you tomorrow.  And then it’s Christmas so I’ll be taking a break from Wedding Wednesday and probably other posts as well for a few days.  We’ll see.  Anywho, 2 cards today!  Both with a vintage feel, something I like to play with every now and then.  Check it out:

 

First things first, I warned you about more gold embossing.  That’s all.  Second things second, this was another easily-constructed card, just a matter of how much I wanted to distress the papers and how I wanted to layer them.  I started with the “December” panel; I tore the edges and inked them with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, then applied Glossy Accents to the picture of the little girl.  While that was drying, I stamped “An old fashioned Christmas greeting” in VersaMark and embossed with gold powder, then added Vintage Photo to the edges.  I popped some foam squares on the back and set it aside for later.  At first I only had the green and gold paper with the lace border punch on top of the bottom-most green layer, but you couldn’t see the lovely lace, so I added a layer of cream parchment paper underneath.  I tore the edges of the cream paper and added Bundled Sage and Vintage Photo Distress Inks to age it a bit.  Green and cream twine added the little bit of something I was looking for before I layered on the “December” paper and finally the stamped image.

The inside is simple, too:

 

 

This second card started with a piece of snowflake paper:

 

I wanted to make a card that resembled a window through which you’d see the beautiful snowflakes, and this is what I came up with.  I ended up covering more of the snowflakes than I would have liked, but that’s just how the proportions worked out.  The thing about this card that makes it “vintage” is that sweet little star/snowflake with the image of a boy in the snow.  He looks like he’s in the holiday spirit 🙂  And he has a little friend on the inside of the card:

 

A little girl in her warm coat.  So sweet.  I decided to show off more of the snowflake paper here on the inside, because it really is pretty.  It’s got a metallic glimmer that I just couldn’t catch in a photo…you’ll have to take my word for it.

Red and Gold – an Elegant Christmas

Happy Friday!  Another week has come and gone, and there are only 5 days until Christmas!  I just can’t believe how this year has flown by.  Before you know it it’ll be 2014!  But, after all, we haven’t made it to Christmas quite yet, so I’ve still got Christmas cards to share with you 🙂  Today’s is simple and classy, just red and gold and elegant.  Have a look:

 

I actually made this card based on a Mojo Monday sketch, but didn’t have it finished in time to link up.  Oh well.  I still get to share it with you all!  You’re probably not surprised by now to see more gold embossing since I’ve told you about 47 times how much I like it, and I’ll go ahead and warn you – you’ll see more!  What can I say?  It’s great stuff.  I’m also a big fan of those little gold square brads I picked up for cheap a couple months ago.  I normally stick with plain round brads, and I’m awfully glad I didn’t in this case.  The construction of this card was simple, mostly paper layering.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment, layered it onto a kraft rectangle with pretty corners, added some gold glitter glue around the edges, and popped it up on foam squares.   I used some of the same papers on the inside, and left lots of space for a nice note:
