Ombre Congratulations Graduate Card Duo

Happy Friday!!!  I’m finishing out the week with another duo of graduation cards for you – probably the last of them for a while.  I’m pretty notorious for saving small scraps of paper, and today’s cards were an attempt to put some of those scraps to good use.  Take a look:

Each strip of paper was cut to the same size then adhered to another small sheet to keep everything in place.  When I had all the little scraps lined up in the order I wanted, I chose an embossing folder and ran the whole thing through my Cuttlebug.  Then it was a matter of adding some string (and a tassel!), choosing a background layer, and die cutting my sentiment.  It was really quite simple!

That’s it for today!  I hope you found some inspiration.  Have a lovely weekend!

Another Graduation Inspiration Card Duo

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope y’all had a nice weekend.  Mine was full of celebration, good food, fun times, and a little relaxation.  Now back to the daily grind 😉  Still in the spirit of graduation, I have a couple more cards of that nature for you.  Take a look:

Another simple design.  The fun part was stamping the graduation caps over and over again to create my own custom background paper.  I added a touch of gold glitter glue to the tassels of each cap for a little more pizzazz 🙂

That’s all I’ve got for you today!  I hope you enjoyed it.  Have a lovely day!

It’s Graduation Time!

It’s Graduation Time: Hats off, Grad!

Hello again and happy Friday!  It’s an exciting time of year for so many students – graduation time!  Today is definitely exciting in this household; it’s the day when my wonderful husband graduates from his Master’s program!  He’s worked so hard these last two years, and I couldn’t be more proud of him.  In a couple months we’ll be off to a new place where he’ll start a new job.  What an adventure!

I have a matching duo of cards for you today, I hope you enjoy them:

I really enjoyed making these cards because they’re a slight departure from my norm.  I used my Spellbinders Labels 9 die to make a shaped card instead of the normal rectangular design.  They’re smaller than normal cards, measuring about 3 x 4.5″, but I think they’re the perfect size to accompany a gift.  The inside is completely blank for note-writing.

That’s it for today!  I’ll be back next week with a little more graduation inspiration for you.  Have a lovely weekend!

Life is an Adventure

Happy Friday, everybody!  Do you have any fun and exciting plans for this weekend?  Thoughts of adventure, perhaps?  Well, then you’ll appreciate this card!

Adventure 1

If that doesn’t get you in the adventuring mood, I don’t know what will!  I had pirates on the brain when making this card, can you tell?  I started with a torn, crumpled piece of paper with a map on it, distressed the edges and hand wrote the sentiment.  I then layered it over some text paper and parchment paper (which already looks old because it’s parchment paper) and edged it all with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I ran hemp cord through eyelets I put in the dry embossed paper I found in my stash, grabbed a scrap piece of linen, and went to town with more Vintage Photo.  I tied the linen, applied everything to the card, added some Glossy Accents to the little compass, and voila!  It’s a swashbuckler 😛  Then I decided I couldn’t wait until daylight to take pictures, so this is what I ended up with :/  The inside of the card is decorated with a little more of the text paper and some torn map paper in the corners.

This card would be great for a masculine birthday or graduation card, don’t you think?

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!
